If you think that selecting something as important as your foundation online is impossible, it’s truly not with True Natural!

You’re only three questions away from the perfect foundation for you. All the foundations you’ll find on our site can be worn by even the most sensitive skin, and all give your skin a matte-like naturally flawless finish, so that takes care of that. What’s left are these three questions:

1. What is your skin type --  Oily, Normal/Combination, or Dry/Mature?

There used to be a skincare “rule” that women with oily skin should only use oil-free foundations and ones labeled “non-comedogenic,” indicating that none of the ingredients would block your pores. Because all of our products contain plant-based oils (vs. petroleum derived oils), they’re all non-comedogenic and will not block your pores. With that said, an oily skin still has different needs than a dry, mature skin.

2. What type of coverage do you need?

Minimal (to even out your skintone)
Light (to even out skintone and cover some skin imperfections)
Moderate (to even out skintone and cover most skin imperfections)
Full (to cover scarring, discoloration, or any number of issues you want concealed, along with evening out skintone)

3. There’s the question of which shade to choose.

Thanks to the new light-reflecting minerals and other natural ingredients, matching isn’t the exact science it once was.

With these three questions in mind, here is a table to help you select the best foundation for you:

Foundation Skin Type Coverage Shade Description Benefit

Lavera Tinted Moisturizer

All

Perfect for those who want to even out their skintone but do not need coverage.

Benecos BB Cream

Nude is for fair skin and Beige is for medium skin tones.

Evens out skintone and provides light coverage.

Lavera BB Cream

Evens out skintone and provides light coverage.

True Natural BB Cream

Evens out skintone and provides light coverage.

Lavera CC Cream

Normal/Combo, Dry, Mature

Light

One shade works for light and medium skin tones.

CC stands for "color correcting" because it evens your skintone. Although it doesn't give as much coverage of frecklees, blemishes and dark circles as BB Creams and foundations, it is an expert at giving you a flawless, even-toned complexion. It is also more effective in hiding fine lines, brightening your skin, plumping up any wrinkles, and firming. Also, when it comes to added moisture, it's got BB Cream beat too, with its 24 hours of moisture with an SPF of 6.

Benecos Creamy Foundations

All

Moderate to Full

Nude is for porcelain to fair skin (think Nicole Kidman).
Honey is for medium to olive-toned skin with a warm glow (think Jennifer Aniston).
Caramel is for very deep golden to darker olive-toned skin (think Jennifer Lopez).

Don’t let the word “creamy” scare you away. This is a lightweight liquid foundation that blends beautifully. Because of  how well it blends, you do not need to be overly concerned about selecting the exactly "correct” shade. In other words, if you know your skin falls somewhere in the “medium” spectrum, we can pretty much guarantee that Benecos Honey will work for you.

Lavera Liquid Foundation

All

Moderate

Ivory Light #1 is for the fairest of  skin tones (think Nicole Kidman). It is more of a lighter porcelain hue than the Ivory Nude #2 foundation.
Ivory Nude #2 is for fair skin tones (think Reese Witherspoon).
Honey Sand #3 for medium skin tones with warm undertones (think Jennifer Aniston)
Honey Beige #4 for medium skin tones with cool undertones (think Sandra Bullock)
Almond Amber #5 for darker skin tones with cool undertones (think Kim Kardashian)
Almond Caramel #6 for darker skin tones with warm undertones (think Jennifer Lopez)

While Benecos foundations definitely have staying power, if you want a foundation that offers 10 hours of moderate coverage, Lavera’s Liquid Foundations would be an excellent choice. This foundation gives a beautiful finish that is ever-so-slightly more dewy than the matte-like Benecos foundations.

Lavera Natural Mousse Makeup

Normal/
Combo, Dry, Mature

Light to moderate

Ivory #1 (think Reese Witherspoon)
Honey #3 (think Kate Middleton)
Almond #5 (think Kim Kardashian)

This is a liquid makeup that has been whipped, so it's light, smooth, and creamy like a mousse. It's particularly beneficial for dry or mature skin because it goes on so smoothly. It provides perfect matte coverage while feeling weightless. You don't feel like you're wearing any foundation when you were this -- until you look in the mirror and see your flawless complexion!

Benecos Loose Mineral Powder

Oily, Normal/Combo

Light to moderate

Light Sand is for the lightest skin tones such as porcelain and fair.
Sand is for fair to medium skin, but not porcelain.
Medium Beige is for medium skin, as well as those with a light tan.
Golden Hazelnut is for those with dark skin tones (think Jennifer Lopez).

Natural mineral powder  feels so weightless and looks so fresh and natural. It's a great choice for oily skin too.  When your skin starts to show signs of aging with fine lines and wrinkles, you will get the best results with a liquid or cream foundation, as even the best of powders can settle into the creases of your skin when used for foundation.

Benecos Mattifying Compact Powder

Oily, Normal/Combo

Light to moderate

Porcelain is for fair to medium skin tones.
Sand is for medium skin tones, as well as for those with a light tan.
Beige is for those with darker skin tones (think Jennifer Lopez).

There's nothing as convenient as using pressed mineral powder for foundation. It's ideal for even the most sensitive, acne-prone, oily, and troubled skin. When your skin starts to show signs of aging with fine lines and wrinkles, you will get the best results with a liquid or cream foundation, as even the best of powders can settle into the creases of your skin when used for foundation.

Lavera 2-in-1 Compact Foundation

Normal/Combo, Dry, Mature

Full

Ivory #1 is for fair to medium skin tones (think Reese Witherspoon)
Honey #3 is for medium skin tones with cool undertones (think Sandra Bullock)
Beige #1 is for medium skin tones with warm undertones (think Kate Middleton)
Caramel is for medium to slightly darker skin tones (think Jenniferson Aniston with a tan!)

This foundation is a cream and powder all in one, and it provides a silky-smooth, airbrushed-look finish.  This is the foundation to use to cover scarring, discoloration, or any number of issues you want concealed as it provides full coverage while still looking natural. It’s as if it “blurs” out all your imperfections without looking overdone at all.

EXPERT TIPS

There’s nothing like our talc-free mineral powders to set your foundation, giving it staying power, and helping to absorb any excess oil.

If you’re in doubt which shade to get or you feel that your skintone might be between two shades, we recommend you go with the lighter shade. It’s typically more flattering for skin to look slightly brighter than darker when it comes to makeup. You may want to buy both shades and use the lighter one in the winter and the darker one in the summer. Also, don’t forget our bronzers and blushes to add depth and color!

If you have a foundation you feel is too dark, try adding it to your favorite moisturizer for a custom-made tinted moisturizer. Experiment until you find the perfect shade for you!)

A word about undertones: To determine if you have warm or cool undertones, here are a few tips:

  1. Which jewelry looks better on you – silver or gold?  Which one makes your skin look better?  Usually people with warm undertones look best in gold, and those with cool undertones look best in silver.
  2. While wearing no makeup, hold something white next to your face while looking in the mirror.  Then hold something cream colored.  Which one looks better?  Those with warm undertones look better in cream or off-white shades, while those with cool undertones look better in white.
  3. Look at the inside of your forearms and check out your veins. Are they blue or green? If they look more green than blue, that indicates you probably have warm undertones.  Conversely, if your veins look more blue, you probably have cool undertones.
