What are "** components of natural essential oils" in your ingredient listing?

Posted on Oct 8, 2015

For products made in the European Union, EU rules requires that a product listing also include a list of possible skin irritants at the end of the listing. Products made in the USA do not have these listed, even though they likely also include these compounds.

Examples of these components are Geraniol, Lemonene, Citronellol and Benzyl Benzoate. While these may actually be part of synthetic fragrances, they are also naturally occurring components of essential oils. For example Benzyl Benzoate occurs naturally in Jasmine Oil and Ylang-Ylang Oil. Lemonene, Geraniol and Citronellol are naturally in Rose Oil and Eugenol is 90% of Clove Oil. If these oils are part of a natural fragrance blend, you would see in the European product listing the following: Fragrance(parfum), other ingredients, Lemonene, Geranoil, Citronellol, etc.

In the case of Lavera or Benecos products with these components, rest assured that these are all from natural essential oils and not toxic synthetic ingredients!
