Ah, February. The time of year poised right between the dead of winter and glimmer of spring. How is it the shortest month of the year can seem like the longest? Sometimes a little pick-me-up is in order.
Pampering your skin does not have to entail a trip to a spa. You can treat skin in the comfort of your own home, for a fraction of the cost (and time) — and it can all be done in your jammies!
The first order of business is determining what type of treatment your skin needs. Is your complexion looking dull and flaky? Or is your skin red and irritated from dry air and cold wind?
If you want to revive your glow, and clear up skin, exfoliation is in order. Ideally, exfoliation should be done weekly to maintain a fresh, healthy complexion. If skin appears sallow, tired or congested use HYDRO Facial Gel Mask to gently slough away dry, dead skin cells and reveal bright, healthy skin. This mild facial mask also provides light hydration and contains Willow bark extract to ward off blemishes. Be sure never to scrub skin that is red, irritated or inflamed as it will only exacerbate the problem.
Another source of exfoliation with added hydration is LAVERE Special Effects Exfoliating Gel Mask. Organic fruit acids and Bio-Hyaluronic Acid combine to effectively slough dry cells, support cell renewal and improve circulation.
HYDRO Peeling Gel is designed specifically for normal, combination and oily skin types. This cooling gel treatment contains super-fine Jojoba beads which work to reveal healthy, radiant skin.
All three items mentioned above are on sale now at very affordable prices.
For issues of sensitivity, like redness and dry patches, skin needs rich hydration and nourishment found in a cream mask. INTENSIVE Facial Repair Mask soothes and calms dry, upset skin. Intense moisture plus natural anti-aging benefits makes skin look smoother, firmer, younger. A real treat for imbalanced skin.
For mature skin that needs a little TLC try SOLUTION Face Mask. This gentle treatment smoothes and softens, tightens pores and reduces puffiness. Richly hydrating ingredients moisturize and repair damage. Micronutrients tone and clear the skin. The complexion is left glowing and healthy.
Tips for using facial masks at home:
- Start with clean skin
- Go for a steam: Bring filtered water to a boil, pour into a glass bowl, cover head with a cotton towel and lean over bowl. Steam for approximately 5 minutes.
- Apply mask with fingertips, using light pressure, in upward/outward movements. Even if exfoliation is what you are after, be sure not to "scrub" too vigorously.
- Allow mask to remain on skin for 5-15 minutes, put your feet up and relax.
- Rinse with warm water. Rinse off immediately if skin begins to feel irritated or uncomfortable.
- Follow up with your regular toner and moisturizer.
This simple weekly treat will leave your skin bright, energized and recharged. And, hopefully, the rest of you will follow suit.
