Traditionally, October has been celebrated as Celiac Disease Awareness Month in the United States. While awareness activities also widely take place in May, we think it's as important a time as ever to talk about the benefits of an all natural routine for those with Celiac Disease and gluten sensitivities.

People afflicted with Celiac Disease and those with wheat germ allergies need to be careful not just of what they eat, but also what they put on their skin. While skin care products containing gluten do not affect all people with Celiac Disease, it is important that all Celiacs avoid using such products on their lips or around their mouth to avoid ingestion. And by using personal care products free of gluten, consumers with sensitivity to wheat can eliminate any risk.

Skin care products must be free of gliadin, a gluten protein found in wheat (and a few other grains). Gliadin is the active ingredient that causes an immune system reaction for those afflicted. Eighty percent of those with Celiac Disease have Anti-Gliadin antibodies.

All Benecos and True Natural products are 100% gluten/gliadin free and safe for those with Celiac disease and wheat allergies. All of Lavera’s products are gluten/gliadin free except for some of their hair care products and a few skincare products. To be absolutely certain that a product is gluten free, you can always check for the words “gluten free” at the very bottom of product descriptions. Also, when you’re on a Product Page, you can click on “Ingredients” for a full listing of all the ingredients in the product. All the cosmetics, from both Benecos and Lavera are 100% gluten free.

We're glad we can provide safe, high quality products to not only those with Celiac Disease, but all people with sensitive skin. We love hearing your personal stories about why you choose and love the products we carry, and we're always happy to hear more feedback and take questions! Feel free to contact us by phone or email at the bottom of this page.
